I’m a big fan of Orange Mud and the hydration products they come out with. So much so that this is the 3rd product I have of theirs, and each one is different than the others. I have the Hydraquiver Single Barrel (priced at $84.95) which is a water bottle hydration pack with the water bottle placed in the middle of your shoulder blades, the P.F.V. – Phone, Flask, Vest (priced at $99.95), which uses a smaller soft flask on the vest that is stored across the front of your chest and is designed for shorter runs (see my review of this product here), and now I’m testing the Gear Vest Pro (priced at $129.95) which uses a 1L bladder stored in the back of the pack in the middle of your shoulder blades. Orange Mud creates such a variety of products designed to fit your endurance sport needs, and once again, they did not disappoint with the Gear Vest Pro!

HELLO AUSTIN!!

BibRave has once again proven why it’s one of the best running communities around!! Here is what I am thinking must have been going through Tim and Jessica’s mind, the co-founders of BibRave, while they were planning out this weekend:

Lets get 20 of the BibRave Pros from around the country together and send them to Austin Texas to attend the premier trade show for running speciality retailers and brands, The Running Event. While we are there, lets have them attend an amazing welcome/reception party put on by Zwift, attend a VIP running party put on by Brooks, set up the biggest BibRave group run to date, and get each of them the Ultimate Swag bag filled with running gear. But instead of just giving them the gear, lets allow them to talk to the brands they got the gear from so they can learn all about their products and all the new things they are coming out with!!

Thanksgiving, a time for family, food, drinks, football…and running races!! This Thanksgiving I started my day with a local 5k (local meaning I only had to drive about 25 minutes to get there). The Turkey Day 5k is held in Minneapolis MN on Thanksgiving morning. I was expecting the weather to be cold because basically after Halloween Minnesota turns into the never ending blizzard, but this year the weather was great, and no snow or ice to be found!

Race Week – Testing My 5k Speed Before Winter

I have heard a lot of people say that your speed is made in the Winter for your races in the Spring. I am planning on following that advice by putting in a winter of solid workouts (both indoors on the treadmill, and outdoors either in the elements or at the turf track in a sports dome by my house). In order for me to see if I made solid strides this Winter, I need a race to have a baseline to compare against when Spring roles around…hence, the Lifetime Turkey Day 5k on Thanksgiving Day (November 22, 2018 in Minneapolis Minnesota).

Jaybird RUN True Wireless Headphones

Disclaimer: I received the Jaybird RUN headphones for free while being a part of the Jaybird Ambassador program. I was not asked to provide a review of these headphones in exchange for receiving them. The opinions I provided below are entirely my own, and have not been influenced in any way through my affiliation with Jaybird.

For me, the moment I knew I was taking running more serious was when I decided it was time to upgrade my headphones from the standard set that came with my phone, to something that was made for running. I did my research and asked around, and came to the conclusion that Jaybird was the brand I wanted to invest in. I started with the Jaybird X2’s and loved how they fit in my ears, stayed put, had a long battery life, and were water and sweat resistant. From there I moved on to the Jaybird X3’s which had a slightly sleeker profile (didn’t stick out of my ears quite as far). I still use my X3’s, but have now added the Jaybird RUN True Wireless Headphones to my running attire. I have run in these RUN headphones since early in the year (2018), and have had plenty of time to test them. I’m now ready to share my thoughts on them below.
