Thanksgiving, a time for family, food, drinks, football…and running races!! This Thanksgiving I started my day with a local 5k (local meaning I only had to drive about 25 minutes to get there). The Turkey Day 5k is held in Minneapolis MN on Thanksgiving morning. I was expecting the weather to be cold because basically after Halloween Minnesota turns into the never ending blizzard, but this year the weather was great, and no snow or ice to be found!

Location/Time: The Torchlight 5k was held in Minneapolis Minnesota on July 18th. The race was at 7:30 PM and took me through downtown Minneapolis, starting at the Basilica of Saint Mary and ending at the St. Anthony Main area on the other side of the Mississippi River. The after party was held in the Father Hennepin Bluff Park.

The Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k in Minneapolis was scheduled for April 14, 2018. I say ‘was’ scheduled because Minnesota got hit with a really bad snow storm the night before the race and race officials decided to change the 15k to a 5k. This bit of information didn’t slow me down from getting to that starting line. So without further ado, Let’s get into the race details.  Continue reading “Wind, Sleet, Snow…Lets Race (Allstate Hot Chocolate 5k Review)”

This was the first time I have run the Madison Half Marathon. Actually, it is the first time I have run any race in Wisconsin for that matter. For a race taking place on November 13th, the weather wasn’t all that bad and made for quite good running conditions once you were on the course. Twin Cities Marathon Review – Minneapolis/St Paul MN

This is the first year I have run the Twin Cities Medtronic Marathon. I have run the Twin Cities 10-miler in the past, but never the full. I must say, it sure did feel different crossing that finish line after 26.2 miles vs after 10. Both are a huge accomplishment, but it had been 8 years since I ran a full marathon, so the finish line was that much sweeter this year!

Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon Review (aka Grandmas Half Marathon) – Duluth MN

The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon (sometimes known as the Grandmas Half Marathon) in Duluth, MN is one of my favorite races of the year, that’s probably why this was my 8th time running it! This race was held on Saturday, June 18th, this year. As far as I can tell, this race is always held on a Saturday. I personally prefer a Saturday race so I don’t feel like I have to rush home as soon as I cross the finish line allowing for more of a post-race celebration with my friends! This weekend showcases a 5k (William A. Irvin 5k), a half marathon (Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon), and a full marathon (Grandmas Marathon). The 5k is held on Friday night and the half and full marathon are both held on Saturday. Continue reading “Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon Review (aka Grandmas Half Marathon) – Duluth MN”
