It’s that time of the year again. Winter is slowly winding down (and in Minnesota I do mean very slow) and I started to look at what races I may want to run this year. As I looked back over what I ran last year, and what I may want to run this year, I kept thinking about the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k and how I know I can improve upon my performance from the previous year. Right off the bat, in 2017 I had never run a 15k before, so no experience at that distance, and it was raining during the entire race (think wet socks and wet shoes). So needless to say, I think with my added experience going into 2018, I could improve upon my performance from 2017. With that being said, here are my top 5 reasons why I wanted to sign up and run the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k on April 14, 2018, and why you may want to as well: Continue reading “2018 Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k (Minneapolis) – 5 Reasons To Run”

Who signs up for another race while tapering for their current marathon? In the same breathe, who looks for a race that is one month after their current race? These were things I was asking myself as I was clicking the register button on my computer for the Madison Half Marathon that takes place on November 13, 2016. My current marathon (Twin Cities Marathon) takes place on October 9, 2016. Continue reading “The Right Race at the Right Time”
It seems like all winter I am ‘in between races’ and then when summer comes around I need to sign up for a race to get me back in shape. This year was no different. By the time the new year hit I was already signed up for two half marathons for the upcoming summer (Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth MN in June, and the Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon in Vancouver BC Canada in August). My training for the first half marathon started in mid-February. This time I decided to do something CRAZY…I decided to actually train for this race!! Continue reading “Training Made ‘Social’”
